Senior Citizen ActivitiesSenior citizen activities are a wonderful way for seniors to remain healthy, fit, and active. There are many ways for seniors to participate in senior citizen activities, regardless of health and level of energy. For seniors who still live in their homes and on their own, they can remain active by joining senior citizen activities at their local churches or by remaining active in their communities. These types of senior citizen activities may include Bible study, choirs, attending theaters, movies, and taking classes in the community such as arts and crafts and recreational activities. For others who are still on their own, they may participate in recreational day care senior citizen activities. These are local community activities that are led by a program director. They typically include arts and crafts as well as outings and field trips. For seniors who live in assisted living facilities, there are a host of senior citizen activities that they may participate in. However, different assisted living facilities will offer different activities. Some of the most typical senior citizen activities at assisted living facilities include educational speakers, trips to cultural events, libraries and reading facilities, swimming, weight training, aerobics, tennis, and other events. Many seniors opt to pursue a health-training regimen to help ward off illnesses and to remain in top physical condition. There are local community sporting events and competitions that seniors may participate in, as well as joining Senior Olympic events. Some seniors may start off with simple activities such as walking, and then progress to running. While some seniors may be ready to start off by joining in local marathons. Whatever your level of fitness is, there is always an activity that you can join and participate in. Whether it is bike riding, tennis, golf or arts and crafts, the key is to find an activity that you love, have fun at, and enjoy doing. More
